We serve classic American fare with an
emphasis on southern traditions.
417 Union is a retro diner
our downstairs celebrates the end of WWII
and our upstairs celebrates the end of
the American Civil War.
We honor the many whose sacrifices
brought an end to the greatest conflicts of our time.
In those days sacrifice was offered up by
civilians as well as those in the military.
These periods of history are close to
my heart for many reasons.
I have a proud connection to these heroes
and am forever encouraged by their triumphs.
This includes both men, women and children alike.
Our artifacts downstairs represent the period from 1939-1949,
many donated by customers. We welcome the additions
of anyone’s friends and relatives who served our country in wartime.
Upstairs is under renovation, we are creating
an homage to the end of the civil war.
During this reconstruction
our upstairs is still in use.
Once we have finished feel
free to come in and browse anytime.
We are proud of our food and love what we do.
Our vast experience
lends itself to a
variety of great food and personalized service.
We use only fresh, quality ingredients.
Our infamous house blended fresh ground coffee
is fair trade & our ingredients are
local whenever possible.
We frequent the Nashville Farmers’ Market
and our breads are baked fresh by a local artisan bakery.
We are glad you are here, and hope you will enjoy our fare.
If you would like a tour, just ask and we’ll be glad to show you around.
417 Union Street is a historical Nashville address. Built in 1897 it first served as an insurance agency with a residence upstairs. Later it would become the fourth home of the popular Satsuma Tea room for over 60 years beginning in 1939.
We are proud to continue a tradition of Classic American Dining and
offer our customers a wide variety of delicious flavors and friendly service.
We welcome all customers to bring in photographs for our walls of loved ones who served in any of our armed forces who helped to keep America safe and secure.
